14th Annual SHRM Vermont State Conference

The Vermont SHRM State Council THANKS all of the speakers, exhibitors and sponsors that participated in 14th SHRM Vermont State HR Conference.  We ROCKED the house with an event filled two days.

To see this year's full attendee brochure, click here.

We heard from SHRM National thought  leaders  - Lisa Horn from Governmental Affairs, and the Workplace Flexibility initiative, and Phyllis Shurn-Hannah, our Regional Field Service Director, about what’s new at SHRM National.

Headliners, Izzy Gessell, Jon Petz, and Cy Wakeman, provided advice on the future of the improvisational skills needed to rock HR, how to remain passionate about our roles, and effective employee engagement strategies. We also included warm up bands; covering the nuts and bolts of payroll and compensation and HR basics and advanced best practices, several panel sessions; the one person HR shop – how to perform solo, healthcare topics, employee recruitment and retention, and local and  federal employment law updates.

Check out the list of 2014 Exhibitors and Sponsors.

FAQ for students who want to know which certification to study for...

Should I still sit for the exam I'm currently studying for or scheduled to take?

SHRM supports your decision to prepare for and take the current exam for the existing credentials. If you pass your exam, you will be eligible to receive the new SHRM credential free of charge from January 1 - December 31, 2015.

During this period, you will be eligible for the new SHRM certification by completing the following process:

  • Document that your current certification is in good standing.
  • Sign the SHRM Code of Ethics.
  • Complete a brief online tutorial on HR competencies.

Once you go through this process, you will add the new SHRM credential to your current list of credentials and will begin a new three-year re-certification cycle.

If you do not pass your exam prior to January 2015 and you purchased the current 2014 SHRM Learning System, SHRM will provide the new SHRM Learning System for the new SHRM certification free of charge in preparation for the new assessment.
